What Frye Blankets Deliver

Built to Last Decades

These aren’t throwaway textiles. Frye blankets use heavyweight weaves and reinforced edges that hold up through years of daily use, camping trips, and repeated washing without pilling or fraying.

Warmth Without the Weight

Premium wool and cotton blends trap heat efficiently while staying breathable. You get genuine warmth for cold nights without feeling buried under heavy,
suffocating layers.

Gets Better With Age

The natural fibers soften and develop character over time instead of deteriorating. What you buy today will feel even better five years from now—a blanket that improves as it ages.

Cozy living room with blanket

Built for the Cold. Made to Last.

Frye started because blankets shouldn’t be complicated. We make heavy-duty blankets that actually keep you warm — the kind you reach for when the heat goes out, when you’re sleeping in your truck, or when that lightweight throw just isn’t cutting it. No patterns that only look good on Instagram. No scratchy synthetic fills that clump up after one wash. Just thick, durable blankets built like they used to make them, before everything got optimized for profit margins instead of performance.

How We Got Here

The founder grew up in Montana, where a bad blanket isn’t just uncomfortable — it’s a problem. After years of camping gear that quit working and “premium” bedding that fell apart, he started sourcing old-school materials: tight-weave cotton canvas, dense wool batting, reinforced stitching at every stress point. The first Frye blankets were made for hunting camps and job sites. People kept asking where to buy them. So we started making more.

What Makes Them Different

Most blankets today are either cheap fleece that pills in a month or luxury bedding priced like a mortgage payment. Frye sits in the middle — serious construction at a fair price. We use materials that can handle actual use: machine washable, won’t shed, heavy enough to stay put on a windy tailgate. These aren’t heirlooms or showpieces. They’re the blanket you don’t worry about. The one that works when you need it to, year after year, without babying it or replacing it every season.

Common Questions

How should blankets be washed?

Most blankets can be machine washed on a gentle cycle with cold water and mild detergent. Heavier materials may require a large-capacity washer or professional cleaning. Always check the care label before washing, as some fabrics need special attention. Air drying flat is recommended to maintain shape and softness.

What size works best for different bed types?

Twin beds typically use blankets around 66″ x 90″, while full and queen beds work well with 90″ x 90″ to 90″ x 100″ sizes. King beds usually need 108″ x 90″ or larger. For throws used on couches or chairs, 50″ x 60″ is a common choice. Measuring the bed and considering overhang preferences helps ensure proper coverage.

What’s the difference between cotton and wool blankets?

Cotton blankets are lightweight, breathable, and easy to care for, making them ideal for warmer months or layering. Wool blankets provide superior warmth and natural temperature regulation, though they require more careful washing. Cotton works well for those with sensitive skin, while wool is better for cold climates and lasting durability.

How long does shipping typically take?

Standard shipping usually arrives within 5-7 business days after the order is processed. Expedited options may deliver in 2-3 business days. Processing time is generally 1-2 business days before items ship. Tracking information is provided once the package leaves the warehouse.

Can blankets be returned if they don’t work out?

Returns are typically accepted within 30 days of delivery for unused items in original packaging. The return process usually involves contacting customer service for a return authorization, then shipping the item back. Refunds are processed once the return is received and inspected. Some promotional items may have different return terms.

How can loose threads or pilling be prevented?

Washing blankets inside a mesh laundry bag helps protect fibers from friction. Using the gentle cycle and avoiding harsh detergents reduces wear. For wool or delicate materials, hand washing or dry cleaning extends lifespan. If pilling occurs, a fabric shaver can safely remove it without damaging the blanket.

I bought the Frye wool throw for our reading nook, and it’s become the most-reached-for thing in our house. My husband and I actually negotiate who gets it on movie nights now.

Took the cotton herringbone blanket camping last month. It kept me warm without that sweaty feeling you get with synthetic ones, and it still looks great after a wash.

My toddler dragged the lightweight Frye blanket around for three weeks straight—to the car, the park, everywhere. I expected it to fall apart, but it’s held up beautifully and still feels soft.
